The primary objective of Pratt Regional Medical Cardiopulmonary Care Department is to promote and to provide the highest quality of health and healing to residents of South Central Kansas.
The PRMC Cardiopulmonary Care Department is made up of a staff that provides:
- Preventive care
- Treatment for existing illnesses
- Administration of specialized pulmonary and cardiac testing
What is Cardiopulmonary Care?
Cardiopulmonary care is a combination of respiratory care and pulmonary function testing as well as evaluation of the function and efficiency of the cardiac system. The respiratory care aspect of the department implements various modalities to help facilitate the treatment of lung diseases and to test the adequacy of the lung`s function. These modalities consist of:
- Oxygen therapy
- Bronchoscopy
- Life support
- Non-invasive ventilation
- Pulmonary clinic
- Aerosol medications
- Nocturnal Pulse Oximetry
- Pulmonary Function Testing
- Sleep Medicine Clinic
The Cardiovascular Care aspect of the department implements various testing modalities to assess the adequacy of the heart and circulatory functions. These modalities consist of:
- Electrocardiogram
- Ambulatory 24-hour electrocardiogram
- Cardiac stress testing
- Lower extremity peripheral vascular evaluation
The respiratory care practitioners at PRMC continually update their skills and education in order to provide the most current and effective treatment regimens for respiratory illnesses such as COPD, emphysema, asthma and bronchitis. The department is staffed by therapists licensed in the state of Kansas and credentialed nationally. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
