Pratt Regional Medical Center’s newest pharmacist Megan Olson is also PRMC’s first pharmacist to complete the new Doctor of Pharmacy Degree program, which is now required for students pursuing a degree in pharmacy.
Megan is a 2002 graduate of Pratt High School, and a 2008 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy. Of course, Megan says she enjoys watching KU football and basketball games! “Rock Chalk Jayhawks!”
“Doug Meyer, our Director of Pharmacy, identified Megan early in her KU training as a “star” we needed to work with to insure her returning home,” PRMC President and CEO Susan Page said. “He was right and we are so fortunate to have Megan now full time at PRMC.”
Megan says she chose to return to her hometown and work for PRMC because “I wanted to work in a smaller community which provides me with a variety of opportunities. PRMC provides an environment that allows me to work with patients in all aspects of their care.”
"We are extremely fortunate to have Megan return to Pratt and be the clinical pharmacist at PRMC,” pharmacy director Doug Meyer said. “Her Doctor of Pharmacy position enables pharmaceutical care at our hospital to emphasize a host of clinical activities that include diabetic counseling, medication reconciliation, patient teaching, and medication reviews."
April 7th was Megan’s first day as a full-time pharmacist for PRMC, but she was not a stranger. She spent summers and Christmas breaks interning in the PRMC pharmacy beginning in 2005.
Megan is a member of the Kansas Pharmacists Association, the American Pharmaceutical Association and the Rho Chi- Pharmacy Honor Society.
