The
Pratt County Medical Society is pleased to announce
the award of its 2006 Scholarship to Jake
Hostetler,
of Pratt, Kansas (pictured at right, receiving
this award from Dr. Jennifer Jackson, on behalf of
the Medical Society.) This is the fifth year this
scholarship has been offered by the Pratt County Medical
Society in an effort to encourage students to enter
the health care profession and fulfill the demand
for quality care in rural and underserved areas.
As
the top recipient of this year’s award, Hostetler
will receive a $500 scholarship in two installments
of $250 each semester during his freshmen year of
college. In order to receive the second installment,
Hostetler must maintain at least a 3.2 grade point
average during his first semester.
In
order to qualify for the scholarship, students in
specified South Central Kansas counties were required
to obtain a recommendation, complete the appropriate
application forms, participate in shadowing opportunities
with Pratt Regional Medical Center staff, and submit
an essay about themselves and their shadowing experiences.
