Children's Miracle Network Gives Grant
The Children’s Miracle Network awarded a $5,365 grant to PRMC for the purchase of three Broslow Kits. The grant is the result of an application called the “Time is Muscle.”
The Broslow Kits are resuscitation kits designed to help medical staff resuscitate children. An easy to use chart provides the appropriate protocols for different aged kids on a color coded chart. The IV catheters, respiratory suction masks, cannulas, needles and medications are also designated by color code so that appropriate volumes and doses are administered to kids at various ages of development. The Kits were placed in OR/Recovery Room, the Intensive Care Unit, and in the Community Care area.
Since children tend to get into trouble quickly the Broslow Kits needed to be placed in a total of five areas. The placements allow the PRMC staff to access a Kit quickly in hopes that children could be saved from trauma. The “Time is Muscle” grant title alludes the necessity of acting quickly when working with children.
The Children’s Miracle Network is program offered under the Via Christi, a not-for-profit hospital, providing resources for programs which help children. The CMS grant was the first of its kind at PRMC.
