THE
COWBOY AND THE CAVALRY
Alan
Pribil, M.D. has been providing medical care at PRMC
since February, 1994. He comes from Oklahoma and is
an undergraduate of Oklahoma State University. He
is an Oklahoma State “Cowboy” through
and through. In a predominantly KU medical staff environment,
he is often the Lone Ranger.
He
completed his medical doctoral degree at the University
of Oklahoma College of Medicine, graduating in 1979.
Dr. Pribil provides general internal medicine services
as well as specializing in Diabetes, Endocrinology,
Cardiovascular Disease, Cholesterol Therapy, and Osteoporosis.
He is also a Registered Vascular Technologist and
a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Kansas University
School of Medicine in Wichita.
But
just like the Lone Ranger, he often wears the white
hat of the good guys in health care. All of his patients
enjoy his low-key, highly professional way of providing
health care. His wife, Bekki, is also a great addition
to the community. She has been on the Pratt
Health Foundation Board for nine years. Together
they have participated in numerous community programs
and have helped make Pratt a great place.
The
“cowboy oriented” Pribil’s are joined
by a cavalry of physician families that have made
commitments to the Pratt Health Foundation’s
“Simply the Best” Capital Campaign. The
physician families include: Dr. Gene & Julie Cannata;
Dr. Wakon & Brenda Fowler; Dr. David and Renee
Pederson; Dr. Dan & Marcia Suiter; and, Dr. Qaiser
& Nadia Rehman.
PRMC
Begins PACS Installation
The
PRMC Radiology Department recently
announced the installation of the new ImageLink Picture
Archiving and Communications System (PACS). The PACS
system is provided by CPSI, the same company that
provides PRMC’s hospital-wide
computer system, so integration should be easier.
This system will allow physicians to access the patient’s
radiology reports and other specific patient information
alongside the diagnostic images. The PACS system also
decreases storage costs, eliminates film costs and
improves access to patient radiology records.
The
outstanding response to the Capital Campaign has made
this purchase possible for PRMC.
“The Capital Campaign has allowed PRMC
to obtain state-of-the-art equipment which was outside
of its financial means at this time. The hospital
is radically different today because of the generosity
of the community,” stated Susan Page,
PRMC President and CEO.
WHAT IS LEFT TO FUND ?
A
majority of the $250,000 which needs to be gifted
or pledged by December, 2005 will go toward the purchase
of a portable C-arm. This piece of radiology equipment
is generally used with patients that are bed-ridden
and difficult to move. It allows physicians and surgeons
to take x-ray images of patients in the surgical suites
or in the patient’s room.
“The
Pratt Health Foundation promotes
health and raises funds to provide economic support
for health care in south-central Kansas through Pratt
Regional Medical Center.”
