HOW
GOOD IS IT? MAYBE THE BEST IN KANSAS!
The
PRMC culture is called “Simply
the Best.” It means that PRMC
employees, from the top down, work hard to do their
best for the patients and families they serve. This
idea motivated the PRMC and PHF
Boards when they decided to ask the community
to help, through a Capital Campaign, purchase new
radiology equipment. Quality medical care depends
on the best medical equipment available.
Recently
a visiting radiologist, D.Wesley Hughes, M.D.,
returned to provide radiology coverage during the
absence of our on site radiologist, Dr. Will Allen.
Dr. Hughes grew up in the Anthony, Kansas area and
earned his M.D. degree from the University of Oklahoma
in 1996. He provides coverage in large and small hospitals
in Kansas and Oklahoma. Dr. Hughes last provided services
for Dr. Allen over a year ago. This time he returned
after the acquisition of the new 16-Slice CT machine,
Ultrasound equipment and PACS system. All of this
equipment was purchased with Capital Campaign gifts
and pledges.
After
Dr. Hughes had completed his responsibilities, he
visited PRMC President and CEO, Susan Page.
First, he told her that he was very impressed with
the new CT and Ultrasound equipment. According to
Dr. Hughes the equipment is, “second to none.”
Many individuals have contributed to the “Simply
the Best” Capital Campaign to help purchase
this equipment. We should stand up and cheer for this
accomplishment. The PRMC Radiology
equipment is equal to any found in Kansas.
Dr.
Hughes went on to say, “the PRMC Ultrasound
Technologists are among the best in Kansas.
With PRMC’s new equipment,
and their superior skills, an ultrasound examination
performed in Pratt is comparable to examinations done
in any other institution in Kansas or Oklahoma, and
superior to most.” The certified PRMC
Ultrasound staff consists of Jan Goertz,
Martha Howell, Diane Rea and Ruth Ann McDaniel. When
patients come to PRMC for radiology
studies they get superior radiology expertise from
the technologists and Radiologists.
All
of this would not be possible without the tremendous
response of our friends in south-central Kansas who
have given sacrificially to make this happen. It is
an honor to serve you and your families with exemplary
medical care.
THE RINEY RECOGNITION
We
recently recognized Claudine and the late Delmar Riney
for their PHF “Simply the Best”
Capital Campaign and legacy gifts. It was a privilege
to dedicate and name the entrance to the Pratt
Regional Medical Complex, “The Delmar
and Claudine Riney Atrium.” This recognition
is a permanent reminder of the Riney family and their
generous support of the hospital. Future families
may not know this family but when they enter the Complex,
they will be reminded that there are caring people
who have made it possible for PRMC
to provide quality medical care with the best medical
equipment available. It is an honor to have friends
like Claudine and Delmar.
HOW IS YOUR LEGACY?
Periodically,
everyone needs to review their will or estate plan.
Recent Federal and state tax law changes have resulted
in lower estate and gift taxes. This is good because
it leaves more assets for loved ones and other priorities,
such as making charitable gifts. Wills, life insurance
policies, retirement accounts and other planning vehicles
can offer an exceptional opportunity to leave a lasting
legacy with your favorite charitable organization/s.
So
every year or two you should have a professional review
your plan. Tax changes may alter the way your will
or estate plan is executed. Or there may have been
a significant change in your family due to health,
illness or death. Or your retirement assets may be
eligible for tax considerations which help you and
the charities you support. The only way to know is
to review your plan.
You
can have your will or estate plans reviewed by an
estate planning expert at no cost, or obligation.
If you are interested in this service call
the Pratt Health Foundation office to schedule a review.
