Cheyenne Becker, CNA Becomes Heisman Award Finalist
November 24, 2011.
Cheyenne Becker, Pratt Rehab & Residence Center Certified Nurse’s Aide and Pratt High School senior, has been selected as a national finalist for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. The announcement was made by Pratt High School Principal Steve Blankenship Monday, Nov. 21 at an all school pep assembly. Cheyenne was recognized for her academic excellence, community service and athletics. In October, Becker was crowned the Kansas High School Class 4A Cross Country Champion. She maintains a 4.0 GPA and plans to attend Kansas State University next fall. Cheyenne will be in New York along with the other national finalists (6 boys and 6 girls) on December 9 for the selection of the winners and recognition during the collegiate Heisman trophy presentation. Photographers and videographers from ESPN spent the day with Cheyenne at school, the hospital and PRRC filming a story that will likely be aired in December. Cheyenne is a remarkable story of challenge and determination when one realizes she has undergone two knee surgeries. |
