| Relief
for Families that Care for a Homebound Person
If
you or someone you know is responsible for the daily
care of a friend or family member who is sick or
disabled, PRRC can provide temporary relief and
assistance.
We know that assuming the daily care of someone
who is ill and/or homebound usually entails both
rewards and hardships. But with outside activities
severely restricted, the individual providing 24-hour
care often suffers fatique and burnout.
Fortunately
for these caregiving individuals, there is relief.
PRRC`s Respite Care Program enables caregivers to
be relieved of the duties of caring for others for
short periods of time. Whether it is a few days
or a few weeks, PRRC`s Respite Care offers caregivers
time off to take care of the other areas of their
lives.
Under
the supervision of a licensed nurse, PRRC Respite
Care provides short-term care for individuals who
need round-the-clock care because of illness, disability,
age, special medications or rehabilitation.
What
are the Guidelines for Admission?
No
physician`s order is needed for PRRC`s respite care
services. Patients are required to bring their own
clothing, medications in the original containers,
toiletries and dressings. Medications will be monitored
by the nursing staff.
How
is Respite Care Paid for?
Since
Medicare and private insurance do not pay for respite
care, families are responsible for all charges.
Payment is required in advance or at the time of
admission.
How
Do I Arrange for Respite Care?
Except
for emergencies, families must make reservations
for respite care at least 24 to 48 hours in advance
to ensure availability of rooms and staff. Admission
times are flexible.
