Our Legacy and Promise
For more than 60 years, Pratt Regional Medical Center has provided the most current and compassionate healthcare services in an efficient and up-to-date facility. Pratt Regional Medical Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit facility owned by the people of Pratt County and managed by Pratt Regional Medical Center, Inc.
All persons seeking care at PRMC receive care, regardless of their ability to pay. We proudly provide the Pratt community with:
- A modern 35-bed acute healthcare facility
- 51-bed rehabilitation and long-term care facility
- Home health agency
- Rural health clinics
- Physician clinics
PRMC is designated as a Sole Community Provider by the federal government. We are a progressive medical center licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and we are Medicare-certified.
Our Governance
Two boards of area residents ensure accountability to the community.
The five-member Pratt County Hospital Board of Trustees is appointed by the Pratt County Commissioners. Because Pratt County owns the buildings, the county hospital board is responsible for:
- Maintenance of the grounds
- Repair/replacement of major fixed mechanical systems
- Maintenance of the exterior of the PRMC building, the South Central Medical Clinic, the Pratt Rehabilitation & Residence Center and the Pratt Regional Medical Complex
- Lease of the buildings to the management board
An annual levy of 1.128 mil pays for maintenance of the exterior of the buildings, fixed mechanical systems and grounds.
Pratt Regional Medical Center, Inc., manages the medical center with a nine-member board of directors, the executive staff and the administrative staff. It is responsible for:
- All operating expenses such as payroll, supplies and medical equipment
- Routine maintenance, operational wear and tear and the insurance coverage on the buildings and grounds
- Payment of the $10.255 million hospital revenue bonds for the Pratt Regional Medical Complex.
Revenue from patient charges and contributions pays for these expenses, and no tax money is used. Revenues in excess of expenses also pay to:
- Update the capital equipment
- Add buildings
- Increase services
- Maintain reserves
