PRMC EARNS NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR PATIENT EXPERIENCE

Pratt Regional Medical Center has earned the prestigious five-star designation in patient satisfaction by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released new patient experience star ratings on July 31, giving 266 hospitals a rating of five stars. This is the highest rating for Patient Experience a hospital can receive, since the government star rating system first launched in 2015.

The five-star rating puts Pratt Regional Medical Center in the top eight percent of the 3,477 hospitals surveyed nationwide. The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Summary Star Rating (surveying patients discharged between October 1, 2018 and September 30, 2019) combines all information about the specific aspects of patient care experience measured by the HCAHPS Survey. The surveys show that patients from Pratt Regional Medical Center highly rated their doctor & nurse communication, cleanliness, and care transition performance.

“Patient experience is everything from their clinic encounter, a clean environment, a delicious meal, every encounter from when they enter the building until they receive an accurate timely bill is part of the patient experience,” said Susan Page, President and CEO of Pratt Regional Medical Center. “This rating assures our patients that they will receive excellent quality care as well as a compassionate experience when they seek and receive care with our team.”

For 2020, Pratt Regional Medical Center was one of only 10 hospitals statewide to receive a 5-star rating for patient experience. CMS assigns two major star ratings: the HCAHPS Summary Star Rating, based exclusively on patient survey scores, and the Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating, which incorporates outcomes measures as well as patient experience scores. The star ratings range from one to five stars, with five stars being the best. PRMC has a 4-star overall hospital quality star rating, and 5-star for patient experience.

This is just one of many accolades for PRMC recently. Pratt Regional Medical Center was also named one of the top 20 rural and community hospitals in the country. This selection is a subset of the Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals, named by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. This is the second year in a row for PRMC to make the Top 100 list, but the first year to achieve the Top 20 designation. Pratt Regional Medical Center was also awarded an ‘A’ in spring 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing PRMC's achievements protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care.
