PRMC Nationally Recognized for Hospital Safety Grade

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization driven by employers and other purchasers of health care, today announced the fall 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades and once again awarded Pratt Regional Medical Center an ‘A’ for achieving the highest national standards in patient safety. Pratt Regional Medical Center is one of only 10 Kansas hospitals awarded an "A" during this Fall 2020 ranking, and PRMC is the ONLY hospital not in a major metro area. This is Pratt Regional Medical Center’s 3rd "A" grade in a row from Leapfrog!

“Consistently achieving an ‘A’ for patient safety, year after year, day after day, is an extraordinary accomplishment and we congratulate the clinicians, staff, volunteers, and leadership of Pratt Regional Medical Center,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We applaud Pratt Regional Medical Center for protecting the lives and safety of patients and health care workers. Given the immense challenges confronting the American health care system as it battles the COVID-19 pandemic, we need all hospitals to demonstrate such relentless dedication to their patients.”

The Safety Grade assigns letter grades of ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ and ‘F’ to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms. Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Leapfrog’s grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

About The Leapfrog Group

Founded in 2000 by large employers and other purchasers, The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care. The flagship Leapfrog Hospital Survey and new Leapfrog Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Survey collect and transparently report hospital and ASC performance, empowering purchasers to find the highest-value care and giving consumers the lifesaving information, they need to make informed decisions. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, Leapfrog's other main initiative, assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents and infections.
